Welcome to the National Indian Youth Council, Inc. (NIYC), the second oldest national American Indian nonprofit in the United States, founded in 1961.

Our Vision: NIYC empowers Indigenous peoples and nation-builders to exercise self-determination while honoring Indigenous worldviews and experiences. Our mission is to foster the self-determination of Indigenous people through: 1) economic sovereignty; 2) cultural flourishing; 3) political resilience; and 4) community well-being. We fulfill our mission through the delivery of programs that address at least one of these focus areas. NIYC is headquartered in Albuquerque, NM, and has field offices in Gallup and Farmington.
